Shik Do Rak - Irvine

one statement about how i feel about this kbbq joint: i <3 shik do rak!

It might have something to do with the cleanliness of the restaurant, those little dishes they give us, the way they cook the meat and cut it up for you, or their awesome spicy sauce. OMG!

I've been here twice already. Both times I ordered the beef tongue (cause it's so good) and the other meat we switch up. Last time it was rib-eye and this time it was kings-something ribs.

Anyways, let's start from the beginning. Look at that...

yums... so many dishes except I only eat the picked cucumber and the picked radish and the picked daikon and rice paper. hahah. yeah efren and I are pretty wasteful about the other small dishes.

Picked radish + meat + rice paper + spicy red sauce = HEAVEN. omg I cannot begin to describe how good it is. Here's a picture of the awesome sauce.. it doesn't look spicy.. but BE CAREFUL!

You've offically been warned. Efren didn't believe me that it was spicy and he dipped his meat, pickled radish wrapped in rice paper in the sauce.. and his mouth was burning!! haha! Honestly, they should give you bigger cups if they're gonna make such a spicy sauce.. they give you like half-sized cups. -__-"

Onto the star of the show... the meats. First up, beef tongue!

It doesn't look any different than other sliced meat but it tastes different and it's just so good!

Next up, kings-something ribs.. ahhs! i'm sorry I don't remember what it's called exactly!

It doesn't look like ribs right? thank goodness those nice korean ladies come over and cook it for you cause i did not know where to begin putting THAT on the grill. She came over, used scissors can cut the meat in half off the bone and then the slices of meat appeared! voila, like magic!

When we order two plates of meat it never seems like it'd be enough but it actually is very filling. Two plates, two people = two VERY full people. but then we're skinny things. =P

total cost (tip + tax) was about $55. Kind of expensive but it's just so good!
but we only come here for special occassins.

we went this time to celebrate efren's acceptance to USC School of Pharmacy! I'm so proud of you! ^__^
